After graduation he worked one year for General Motors and then he went off to Officer Candidate School and became a First Lieutenant in the United States Army Corp of Engineers. He served a year stateside in 1966 and was then assigned to Alaska as the head instructor for the NWTC (Northern Warfare Training Center) where he taught survival skills to the troops. When his tour of duty ended in 1969 Pete was accepted with a full fellowship to Clarkson University where he got his masters in Industrial Management. His first assignment was with Fisher Price Toys in Buffalo, New York. While living there he met Nancy Jordan and then married her in 1975. Pete and Nancy now have 4 grown children and two grandchildren.
After retirement he and his oldest son, Brett, went off to MMI (Motorcycle Mechanical Institute) in Orlando, Florida. Both men graduated at the top of their class, and then Pete went to work part time at Cincinnati Harley Davidson. One year later he left Harley Davidson to create Jane's Saddlebag with his wife, Nancy, and the rest is in the making!
Jane's Saddlebag in Big Bone Lick, KY is a heritage tourism destination with an educational farm located on historic Big Bone Creek, a backwater of the Ohio River in Boone County, Kentucky. Our facility provides hands-on experiences for children and adults with over 50 acres of hiking, creek walking, exploring, and observing wild animals. Jane's also has a large variety of farm animals to observe, cuddle, groom, feed and hold. We stress respect for animals and give emphasis to a human connection with the natural world.
